This is a stylized rapper with day-glo colors and an electric blue puffer jacket standing against a wall in Jordan 33 Visible Utility Reverse. I like when shoes have arbitrary color schemes – it makes these Jordans far cooler than when they are a single color or in the standard red, black and white. By making the strap hot pink and the forefoot shape black with a big gray slab for a sole you become aware that they look like a pair of futuristic postmodern flip flops. They are quite avant-garde in their structure and not at all what you would expect in a basketball shoe. I also like the iconography of the military. It is minimal and clear and utilitarian. It cuts to the core of modernism – a movement that Germans created at the Bauhaus 100 years ago.
I am an artist who aims to capture the whimsical, mass produced, slightly sinister, gimmicky, derivative, transient nature of modern life. firstname.lastname@example.org
