This is a purple slug monster with wings and one eye and one horn. You might even say he is a one eyed one horned flying purple people eater. I am a voracious reader of all things science and medicine. Back in March I was spending time in the woods trying to stay away from people and avoid COVID. Around this time I had severe gastrointestinal distress and stomach pains like I have never experienced. The pain would wake me up at night. I went to the er many times short of breath trying to get a COVID-19 diagnosis. I never got one. One thing I noticed is when I would wake up at night I saw hundreds of automaton like monsters moving in unison in the tops of trees as if they were animated to dance in some 3D movie. When you look at masses of trees at night when the wind is lightly blowing they move a bit like they are alive. The malfunctioning software in my brain was converting those movements into fully formed creatures that I watched for hours. I feel vindicated to read that it is common knowledge now among doctors that COVID-19 can cross the blood brain barrier and cause hallucinations. These dancing monsters seem especially sinister when you consider that the CDC warned that COVID might kill up to 30 million people in the USA alone. I had visions of dying alone in the forest at night while monsters danced in the trees above me.
I am an illustrator and pop artist who aims to capture the whimsical, mass produced, slightly sinister, gimmicky, derivative, transient and expendable nature of modern life.
