I have an ectopic heartbeat. It is a disturbance in the normal rhythm of my heart. To be redundant – your heart has multiple pacemakers to ensure that if one fails another will takeover the job of making your heart beat. Sometimes the secondary pacemaker cells disturb the rhythm of the primary pacemaker and cause your heartbeat to pause then start again with a larger than normal beat before it goes back to its normal rhythm. These can happen multiple times a minute. Mine seem to happen later in the day when cortisol has had a chance to build up in my system from daily stress. I can feel them when they happen and it makes me worry about my heart – though I have been told that they are not deadly. It feels like a jolt in my chest. This is a unicorn heart with rainbow blood.
