This is a digital illustration of a green hummingbird. I love hummers. It is amazing how they make the greuling trek from Costa Rica to Georgia and back every spring. It must be insanely difficult for such a small creature to fly across oceans and through storms. I have been watching them swarm around my grandmas feeders since I was a little kid. They are amazing flyers and fiercely protective of their territory. They stretch the limits of how fast a heart can beat at 1260 beats per minute. They are tiny marvels of evolution. And on top of that they have beautiful irridescent plumage. They are one of the few things that I miss about Georgia.
