Crocodile Tears means an insincere display of emotion. An example would be a hypocrite crying fake tears of sadness to draw in their unsuspecting prey. The saying comes from an ancient belief that crocodiles shed tears as they fed. It is not true but that doesn’t really matter. It is just another example of how creative, colorful and cool the English language is. This is a green croc crying crocodile tears to draw in tiny unsuspecting bird brain yellow birds for a quick meal. Green crocodile wiping his tears with Kleenex.
