I love the Cleveland Indians mascot Chief Wahoo. It is wrong headed to see him as mean spirited mocking of the aboriginal peoples of North America. It is more a tribute than a slam (A grand Slam as it were). I love how his face has been simplified and exaggerated. I love his sarcastic smile and pointy eyes. He is a pop art masterpiece of consumery sarcasm and cartoony snideness. He is the injun Peter Griffin. He is fully aware of what is going on in corporate america and his expression reflects his take on modern American capitalistic greed, hollow pop culture symbols and brain washed nonsense that is the American Dream. He is above being exploited. He is poking fun at America. Not the other way around.
