Crows and ravens are amazing. They are by far the most intelligent birds on the planet. They have complex social lives and language. They are also one of the few animals to make and use tools. They are also famous for being able to recognize particular human faces and treat people differently based on how they have been treated in the past. Adults are solid black with black eyes. But I gave him an orange beak, eyes and feet for contrast. When he is solid black his expressions disappear. Watch this amazing crow documentary on YouTube. God sometimes science looks like fun.
Birds are amazing. I love the ones with bright and vibrant colors. We sometimes get blue birds at our bluebird boxes. I like watching them out the window in the kitchen. They work incredibly hard to feed their young. Edit: was not happy with the head modeling or the shape of the body. Sometimes it is hard to figure out exactly what is wrong and you have to start over on certain parts from the bottom and redo each step to get it to look right. Photoshop has the relatively new feature that lets you ctrl click on a part of your painting and it will automatically take you to the layer that part is on. It is probably the best feature ever added to Photoshop for people who paint with many layers. Before it you sometimes had to hunt for layers for hours.
This is a plastic wall clock of a whimsical owl that tells you the time and the truth. “Hoot Hoot Hoot – its 3 O’ Clock. You are a narcissist – you have burned too many bridges – reality has caught up with you. You are alone and a failure because you are a monster.” Please wise Mr. Owl don’t make me face the music. It isn’t my fault. It is their fault. I’m not damaged – they are. I am perfect and good. :(
I love Twitter. I always imagine how silhouette logos would look fleshed out in 3-D. It s interesting how shapes reduce when they are just a few pixels across. It helps explain why corporate marks are so simple. They have to look good when they are really small in some random app interface. Aww he is so kawaii.:3 Twitter is for normies and corporations. Checkout this article – Twitter is dying.
It must be an amazing life to live in the canopy of a massive unspoiled tropical rain forest, to be able to fly at will, to eat nothing but delicious tropical fruit, to have no cold season, to be so secluded that you never encounter civilization, to have instincts that tell you everything to do and a natural home that provides for you. I love birds. Toucan eating fruit with his Lantern Bug bros.
I have always known that mockingbirds copied other birds but I never paid it much attention. Then I heard one sound like a tree frog then a cricket then a car alarm then a blue jay. I was amazed and it stuck with me. Here is a mocking bird on YouTube copying a car alarm among other things. I guess they could be seen as a boring subject but I see them everyday when I am on the treadmill and I watch them sing and hunt for bugs and I have grown attached to them. They are like tiny machines.
Purple Finches are one of my favorite birds. Roger Tory Peterson described them as “a sparrow dipped in raspberry juice” and its not far from the truth. The males sometimes have a bright red head and breast. Their coloring is sometimes very subtle. We get a horde of them at the feeder in Georgia in winter. When you live in the middle of nowhere watching a pretty bird can be the highlight of your day. They are so little and kawaii. Now if only the neighbors cat would stop hunting them.
