I love chameleons. I used to go to the pet store and look at them for hours. I am pretty sure they are aliens. Just look at their feet – those things are not of this world. This is a tiny orange micra chameleon – they are the size of a match-head. Like all chameleons they are from Madagascar.
I love mockingbirds. I remember snoozing on a summer afternoon after a thunderstorm and feeling depressed and sleepy and actually hearing a mockingbird for the first time. He was copying a long list of noises he had heard in the environment around him – from tree frogs to crickets and car alarms. I remember looking out the window at him and seeing his intelligent yellow eye looking back at me. It is amazing that they evolved to be aware of their environment to survive and their song is proof that they have wheels spinning in their head as they listen to and appropriate the sounds around them.
This is the cutest pupper in video game history. He is a rapper with a fly 90s style, a crunchy flow and an onion mentor named Chop Chop. He is from one of my favorite PS one games and the first rhythm game I ever remember. He was designed by pop artist Rodney Greenblat for Sony.
This is Hunter Thompson’s Myna Bird Edward. Hunter used to get stoned and traumatize him to get him to perform for his friends. Edward has developed a personality disorder because of the stress of dealing with Hunter. Mynah Birds love small talk. They chatter on incessantly about the weather, Topgear and the life cycle of stars.
Myna Bird Illustration sad.
I love the movie Bolt. It is about a dog coming to terms with the fact that he isn’t a superhero. It is about being humbled by life – something everyone goes through. It is a great buddy adventure movie where bolt has to travel across the US to find his master.
It is impressive how much work and love goes into digitally animated movies. It takes an army of extremely talented people who lovingly craft a movie frame by frame over a period of like 3 to 4 years. Also the people who make the stories and invent the characters have to be great to justify all that work. Mark Walton made Rhino. He is a Disney story guy and he voices Rhino – easily the best comic book – movie – tv geek in movie history. Rhino is a hyper geek who is excited by and just as lovable and deluded as Bolt. He is what people mean when they say fanatic. He lives in a bubble in a trailer in middle america and he thinks the world is as exciting as the shows he watches.
This is a robotic green humming bird. It is a tiny flying robot that buzzes around robot flowers drinking their robot nectar.
This is a giant resin pop art statue. It belongs in front of a billion dollar corporate headquarters in downtown Atlanta. It represents the childlike wonder and joy of dollar store consumerism. As a kid nothing was more fun or thrilling than going to a dollar store on a hot summer morning and walking out with a cool dayglow toy. It was magic. This is an altar to that feeling. It is about the joy and beauty of buying cheap and magical stuff that is made of petroleum products. It is also a doff of the cap to our reptoid overlords and ancestors who made it all possible.
This is an illustration of a cute gray kitty with a bell collar around his neck. I love kitties. They are domesticated but they have a wild streak inside them. It is cool to watch their predator instincts kick in when they are hunting a tiny bug or lizard. They go into a hyper cute ninja mode that is a remnant of their lion ancestors. Bells are like a kitty alarm system to protect our songbird buddies from being eaten. This is one of my favorite animals.
This is a brown rooster with four legs. He was grown in a lab at KFC so that The Colonel can harvest more drumsticks per chicken. I used to have a stuffed chicken that I carried around with me as a kid. His name was Bok Bok.
I love kitties. Part of their charm is that they love you but they are never all-in. They sit with their back to you. They wont let you pet them unless they are in the mood. If you pet them too much they may bite you. They throw up on your floor from time to time and they poop like there is no tomorrow so you spend a good deal of your time scooping poop. This cat’s name is Sandy. She ate some crayons and now she is vomiting a spectrum of wax.
